En: Summer of Love, 70's Vibes! / Vista Kicks

Vista Kicks has suddenly come up on my YouTube front page some weeks ago and its 60s-70s sound attracted my ears.

Though I knew nothing about this LA-based band until then, it turns out really good!

Ear candy Sound

The song "Gotta Get Away" starts with a simple but uplifting guitar riff which reminds me of drive along a beautiful beach in California. (I've never done such a thing though...)

This reverb guitar sounds really "delicious" to my ears, especially when it comes back with a "gotta get away" chorus later.

And the guitar arrangement at around 1:40 (right before the second chorus) is so sweet!

Did you notice killer bass play in the first verse? It would be even better if it was a bit louder or clearly separated from the vocal.

The section from 2:15 to 2:45 is definitely a highlight of vocal. Haight-Ashbury & The Doors vibes!

Once Upon A time...

To my generations, who weren't born yet at the time of summer of love or American pop music scene's huge growth in 70's, songs like this feel a package of American culture & history and even more so for us Japanese living far away from the epicenter of such a movement.

Lastly, check out their recent live performance.

It seems the band infuses additional energy into this song on stage setting the extended chorus section in the middle.

How great it is to see audience today dancing to music like this without holding their smatphones!! Lol
