En: Thrilling "Oh Well" cover by HAIM!

"Oh well"... I'm not searching words for something.

It's a tittle of one of the most covered blues rock songs which is especially popular among hard rock bands.

It was originally recorded in 1969 by Fleetwood Mac, then lead by the British guitar legend Peter Green.

This a bit busy but cool guitar riff completely caught my heart when I first heard the song. It's simple but sounds groovy & strong.

In my opinion, what propelled the song into the spotlight here in Japan was probably the collaboration of Jimmy Page & The Black Crows.

Needless to say, their triple guitar version, with the great vocal by Chris Robinson, was a masterpiece!

Sister Band Haim!

Last year when I was doing something at home playing YouTube in auto-mode, this familiar guitar riff suddenly came into my ears.

Looking up the tablet screen, I found three young girls were playing this song in front of huge audience.

My first reaction was "Oh no, an unknown poppy girls band covered this traditional song to make themselves look cool. This shouldn't be great..."

But actually they weren't such a typical girls band. They played it really well with a nice garage punk twist!

The additional drum played by one of them during the riff looks & sounds modern, and guitar solo was a bit freaky in good meaning.

In these latest videos the band released last year, I don't see that much influence from blues.

But they're still playing impressive music which holds unique indie rock vibes!
