Do you guys know Trans Siberian Orchestra?
In the last couple of years, I've seen the name of TSO from time to time, but never given it a try because typical orchestra music isn't my taste.
Unexpected Entry
Basically, I had had no idea what the group is about ... until I watched one episode of my favorite YouTube show, Living Big in a Tiny House.
In this episode, the violinist for the group introduced her insanely cool partially-mobile house with guitar amp-like facade!
My reaction to this was, "Gosh, how could she do this crazy thing without rock / punk attitude!? This is an invitation from TSO!"
Blown Away!
Even the very first video I chose randomly on YouTube completely caught my heart. (I don't remember which was the one anymore, sorry!)
Their musicality is... I would say "Slightly lesser guitar intensive, well organized & produced hybrid of Blackmore's Night and Yngwie."
Latest Tour
Especially, these videos from this year's latest tour blew my mind.
This is something to be described as "the mashup of Pink Floyd & KISS stage production" and just jaw-dropping.
Is this an attraction in the Universal Studio or something?
At around 7:40, a guitar player & electric violinist walk into the audience respectively to show their performance even closer.
As it suggests, every aspect of their show is very sophisticated & audience centered.
Needless to say, this kind of big arena show is never completed without top notch players.
if you're a long time hard rock / heavy metal fan, the names such as Jon Oliva / Al Pitrelli from Savatage or the current Whitesnake guitarist Joel Hoekstra allow you to have a clear vision on "what to expect" for their show.
This spectacle really needs to be brought into Japan!
