Killer Shout
The other day when I was doing something at home playing YouTube in auto-mode, one live video I've never seen caught my heart.
It was the performance by the band called Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, with the guest appearance of the legendary southern rock icon, Warren Haynes.
At the point the video had started, I had no idea what the band was like. But just my credit in Warren kept me playing it.
Then at around 2:00, when the female vocalist started shouting along with the muddy, tripping guitar sounds, I had to stop doing what I was doing then.
Janis Vibe
From her way of singing to her stage presence & move, everything she presented here was utterly my taste and it reminds me of Janis Joplin.
And I really love this kind of authentic jam stuff, where players' musicianship is inevitably tested. (but only when it's done with the right amount of energy & attitude.)
Especially, the call & response between Grace and Warren after 8:00 was such a great highlight to me.
To some extent, it could be thanks to the presence of Warren, but Grace also has such a stage leadership to create that vibe, definitely.
The Lion The Beast The Beat
If you like 60s-70s vibe like this, you've got to check this video & song too! I completely fell in love with this.
To me this song sounds to have diverse influences from 60's-70's music, hippie culture & even alternative rock scene in 2000s.
In the recent years Grace seems to be performing as a solo singer, but her musical style hasn't changed that much and is still going deeper.
